This notice appears in the footer of every page, immediately above every outbound partner link, and here in full. That is deliberate: you should never have to guess whether a link is commercial.

We work with a small number of established charter platforms rather than signing up to everything available. At the moment, every charter link on this site goes to one of them.

• Boataround — a bareboat and skippered charter platform. Every charter button and link currently on this site goes here, whichever destination, yacht or article you followed it from. It is the only partner we are earning commission from today.
• Boatbookings — a crewed charter specialist covering the Mediterranean, the Caribbean and Florida. We hold an affiliate relationship with them, but no link on the site points there at present, so we earn nothing from them.
• Borrow A Boat — a charter marketplace with wider international coverage, including the United Arab Emirates. Same position: the relationship exists, no live link uses it.

We would rather state that plainly than describe a spread of partners that is not what you would actually get if you clicked. If it changes, this page changes with it.

Outbound links carry a tracking parameter identifying us as the referring site. It contains no information about you. All such links are marked rel="sponsored" in the page source, which is the standard way of declaring a commercial link to search engines.

The commercial relationship is with the booking platform, not with individual yacht owners or operators. No owner, broker or operator can pay to appear on this site, to be featured on the homepage, or to be described more favourably.

• We do not accept payment for editorial coverage or for a position in any listing or ranking.
• We do not adjust guides or recommendations to steer you toward higher-commission bookings.
• We do not publish invented reviews, testimonials or endorsements. If we have not experienced something, we do not claim to have.
• Where the honest answer is that our partner is not the right route for the trip described, the guide says so in the text, even though the button beside it still goes to our partner.

Our guides are written to be useful to someone deciding whether and how to charter, including in the cases where the honest answer is “wait” or “charter something smaller”. A guide that only ever says yes is worth nothing to a reader and, in the long run, worth nothing to a partner either.

Charter rates shown here are indicative starting prices, exclusive of APA, VAT and gratuities, and change with season and itinerary. Sale prices are asking prices at the time of publication. Live pricing and availability sit with the partner or broker, and their figure is the authoritative one.

When you book, your contract is with the operator or platform, on their terms. We are not the merchant of record, we do not take payment, and we do not hold your booking. This is set out more fully in our terms of use.

Yachts listed for sale are handled by our brokerage desk directly rather than through an affiliate programme. If you enquire about one, we act as broker and are remunerated on completion in the ordinary way for the industry. That is a different relationship from the charter links above, and we keep the two clearly separated.

This disclosure is written to satisfy the US Federal Trade Commission's Endorsement Guides, the UK Competition and Markets Authority's guidance on hidden advertising under the Consumer Protection from Unfair Trading Regulations, and the EU Unfair Commercial Practices Directive — all of which require material commercial connections to be disclosed clearly, conspicuously and close to the link.
